The Masked Meerkat Gang was built to unite community impact with the power of Ethereum Through the events of 2020 including the Nationwide Protests of 2020 and the destructive impact of COVID-19, it became apparent that NFT’s and Ethereum can drastically improve the lives of impoverished, low income, minority, and marginalized individuals directly impacted by social issues around the world. Simply put, when it comes to social issues such as poverty and marginalization, enough is enough.
First, you have to understand NFT’s, Ethereum, and Meerkats:
- NFT stands for non-fungible token. NFTs are tokens that we can use to represent ownership of unique items. They let us tokenize things like art, collectibles, even real estate. They can only have one official owner at a time and they’re secured by the Ethereum blockchain — no one can modify the record of ownership or copy/paste a new NFT into existence. (Ethereum.org)
- Ethereum is a technology that lets you send cryptocurrency to anyone for a small fee. It also powers applications that everyone can use and no one can take down. Ethereum has led to the creation of new products and services that can improve different areas of our lives. (Ethereum.org)
- Meerkats are a small southern African mongoose that tend to be moralistic, gentle, and creative. They’re happiness comes from cooperation and support within calm environments. All Meerkats find their peace within the pursuit of their purpose and the unity of their community.
The vision behind the Masked Meerkat Gang began as an artistic representation of a united community; a symbol for peace. After months of searching for the perfect way to symbolize the vision for a connected world, Chase’s “Bricko’s” creation came to life. Though each Meerkat is entirely different from one another, they are unified by the simple fact that they are Meerkats; a community driven by purpose.
The Masked Meerkat Gang NFT creates the opportunity to directly benefit communities in need and change lives while joining an elite community that stands for you, cares for you, grows with you, and supports you no matter what. Besides gaining full ownership and rights over each Meerkat, you have the chance to build your digital identity while helping someone in need.
It is rumored that as each Meerkat is purchased, a life is changed, and we intend to make this a reality. Each purchase is guaranteed to impact an individual or community in need and we will track each endeavor through Twitter and Discord.
The Masked Meerkat Gang NFT collection consists of 7,777 unique, Masked Meerkat art pieces drawn by Bricko himself. This collection will be released by the Phaction Art House and dedicated entirely to community impact.
For this release, we are partnering with homeless shelters to drastically change the lives of the homeless within Washington, DC. In addition, we are going to find artists that are homeless, help them to create NFTs, and pay them through NFT royalties and profits. The remaining profits will go towards impacting marginalized communities across the US.
Minting will begin on October 30, 2021 at https://maskedmeerkatgang.io/ for 0.03 ETH per Meerkat. If you are added to the whitelist, you’ll be able to purchase your Meerkats for 0.02 ETH per Meerkat on October 29,2021. All holders can buy a max of 5 Meerkats per transaction. The reveal will be on November 3, 2021.
